These are pictures from the day that Sam WASN'T super-citizen, but Colin WAS.
For Sam, who is uneasy every day of school until he is named super-citizen, this was a disappointment. But look at both of them. Sam ran up to help me give a lei to Colin. It was a selfless moment for Sam. Since then, Sam was chosen to be super-citizen. I came. Colin helped give Sam a lei. The universe regained its balance. Well, almost. It turned out that Jane was super-citizen that day, too. It was a surprise. No one told her or me, so she got nary a lei, picture, or hug. This is actually the second time that has happened for Jane. Last time, in Kindergarten, someone took pity on solitary Jane and came running out of the crowd to give her a juice box. Shucks. No juice box, either, this year.
